Momma and the Twins

Posted by

It was to be the start of the spring garden, but when I went for my gloves stored in a mouse proof cupboard... momma mouse had turned my cupboard into a birthing room for her twins and was in the process of expelling them when I interrupted.

So I exchanged gloves, shovel, and a box of starts for my camera and surgical gloves. Mom posed for a few shots then disappeared momentarily before departing out a small hole in the top of the cupboard (I was quite puzzled until then as to how she had gained access).

Now a very interesting conundrum: she left without her offspring, or at least visibly so. When I removed everything from the cupboard to clean it, I found no baby mice, and I looked very carefully. So where did they go?
